Hotel Ethnography Higashiyama Sanjo
Located near the final point of the 53 Stations of the Tokaido, the theme of the hotel is "Hatago" (Edo period inn) in the post town.
The outside facing rooms were built with a window as large as possible, creating a setting where you can sit by the window and gaze at the streets of Kyoto.
The central room is positioned like a detachment, and you can enjoy the two adjacent parts of the room as if they are two separate spaces, as well as an inner garden.
The materials used for the building are soft and hard, traditional and modern, such as wood and concrete, fabric and tile. The sensibility of creators such as landscapers and artists is added to this, while trying to create a space that can be interpreted in various ways.
Guests from all over the world can experience the "new Kyoto" and enjoy the scenery of each season.
Rooms
The interior is an exquisite balance of mixture of traditional Machiya houses
abundant with wood and the novelty of contemporary art.
